1963 Home Renovation: A Modern Transformation

This 1963 home had remained almost completely untouched for decades before being purchased by a young couple as their first home. The renovation began with a complete reworking of the home’s structure and foundation. Walls were removed to open the footprint and create a more connected flow between spaces, requiring extensive structural engineering. Because the original floors were significantly uneven, the entire foundation was poured and leveled, establishing a solid foundation for the transformation. Behind the scenes, the home was brought fully up to date with new plumbing, a complete electrical rewire, and a new HVAC system, giving the house a fresh start from the inside out.

At the heart of the new layout, the kitchen was relocated and reimagined as the central gathering space of the home. The more open footprint allows the kitchen to connect naturally with the surrounding living areas, while a striking bi-fold door extends the living experience outdoors and creates a seamless connection between interior and exterior spaces. Elsewhere, dedicated space was thoughtfully carved out for a modern home office and laundry room, adding functionality without compromising the openness of the overall design.
